Riboflavin: An Important Vitamin

Riboflavin has the other name and that is vitamin B2. It belongs to vitamin b complex family. Riboflavin is a water soluble vitamin and thus it is important to regularly supply this nutrient in your body. Some of the sources that is rich in riboflavin fish, cheese, cereals, fish, eggs, whole grains, leafy vegetables and soya beans. Riboflavin is necessary to perform the metabolic functions efficiently. It plays a vital role in converting carbohydrate into sugar and thus, generates energy. It helps in production of red blood cells. It is necessary for good health and better immunity.

Certain diseases that are treated using riboflavin are Alzheimer’s disease and depression. If your body falls short of this vitamin then there are certain symptoms like dry mouth, dull hair, cracked and wrinkled skin. This is a natural antioxidant which helps in prevention of heart problems and cancer. It helps to repair the body tissues. If you want healthy skin, eyes, hair and nails you must eat diet which is rich in riboflavin.
If you feel that you are not getting the required amount of riboflavin then in that case, you must take riboflavin health supplements after taking advice of your doctor. Take prescribed dosage everyday and also have diet with lots of vitamins.
